Dothan Brook School Pre-School Extended Hours Program

Starting 2019/2020 School Year

Overview: The Hartford School District is seeking a licensed early childhood center to manage and run an inclusion-based extended hours pre-school aged (3 to 4 year-olds) program at the Dothan Brook School (DBS) starting at the beginning of the 2019/2020 school year.  This program will work in partnership with the school’s pre-kindergarten class and offer enrolled families access to childcare before and/or after pre-kindergarten. It is crucial that the program is dedicated to the use of trauma sensitive practices, is trained to support students with special needs, and has a behavior management philosophy that is aligned with Dothan Brook’s Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports system.

Hours of Operation: 8:00AM to 5:00PM while school is in session—Alternative hours will be considered based on the applicant’s recommendations.  The DBS pre-kindergarten program offers two sessions: 8:00AM to 10:45 AM and 12:15PM to 3:00PM.

Enrollment: DBS will provide a classroom space that accommodates up to 20 pre-school aged students.  The program will serve a diverse student population and include children with special needs.  It is the expectation that the program will collaborate with the Dothan Brook School and Harford School District Staff and each child’s family to ensure success and inclusion.

Provider Requirements:

Liability insurance rider for program operation.
Fully-certified staff with VT Child Development Division and Agency of Education compliant background records’ checks in order.
License obtained and maintained in accordance with the regulations of VT Child Development Division.
Maintenance and management of building security in the areas of operation on a daily basis.
Ensure financial solvency through tuition payments and subsidies. The Hartford School District is not responsible for any associated financial liabilities that the awardee may incur.
Collaborate with DBS and HSD staff to ensure continuity of individual and whole program.  This includes providing supervision for lead teacher to attend weekly team meeting with pre-kindergarten staff.
Provide and maintain training in coordination with the Dothan Brook School around trauma sensitive practices and establishing early childhood Multi-Tiers System of Supports.

The Dothan Brook School will provide the following:

A classroom and shared outside space that meets the VT Child Development Division licensing standards.
Access to school lunch services.
Custodial service for appropriate cleaning of classroom and bathrooms used by program on a daily basis before program opens.
Access to HSD/DBS early childhood, PBIS, and MTSS training for program staff.

The proposal must explicitly address each required area.

Proposals are due April 12, 2019 by 4:00.
